Best Management Practices


Bolinao Pangasinan is very active in marine protected area MPAs management.
As early as 1994, several MPAs were proposed and until now, management practices are still ongoing. Some of the MPAs in Bolinao are located in the river ,near the seashores, and near the island. Here are the exact locations of Marine Protected Areas built in Bolinao, Pangasinan.


Five established coralline MPAs in Bolinao occupying 98 hectares. These are located in Binabalian, Victory, Lucero, Arnedo, and Balingasay. Four of these are effectively managed. Three additional sites (33 hectares) were recently established in Patar, Ilog-Malino and Estanza. The existing mangrove reforestation projects have a congregated area of 80 hectatres which can be found in Patar, Victory, Dewey, Binabalian, Goyoden, Luciente II, Arnedo and Luna.
In 2005, KISAKA gained Likas Yaman Award as the most outstanding People’s Organization due to their contribution in the management of MPAs.

How can you reach the area?

From Manila to Bolinao
There are several bus companies whose buses going to Bolinao. Some of them are Victory liner, Five star transit, and Dagupan bus line.

From Bolinao town Proper: mainland sites ( Luna, Arnedo, Luciente II, Balingasay, Patar, Estanza, and Ilog Malino) can be reached by tricycle for 30 munites.

And island sites (Lucero, Binabalian, Pilar, Victory, Goyoden, Dewey) can be reached by boat for 30 minutes to 1 hour ride.
